Hawthorne & Hoodle St Bridges
Hoodle Street Bridge

Opened on the 22nd December 1938, the Hoddle Bridge is an arch bridge that carries Punt Road over the Yarra River between Richmond and South Yarra in Melbourne, Australia. It is a five-lane road bridge with narrow footpaths on either side. It is of continuous reinforced concrete T-beam construction with five segmental arched spans, supported on transverse piers, and linked by concrete cross-beams.
The APS scaffolding division was engaged to provide full scaffolding access and netting to conduct refurbishments and repairs on this iconic bridge. Using the in-house design and engineering team and the Layher scaffolding system, the APS scaffold teams were able to complete the installation on time and with a perfect safety record.
Hawthorn Bridge

The Hawthorn Bridge, which is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, opened in 1861, designed with Wrought Iron truss and spanning 98 metres (322 ft) in length and 14.3 metres (47 ft) in width. The bridge crosses the Yarra River, five kilometers (3.1 mi) east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, connecting Bridge Road and Burwood Road. It is the oldest extant bridge over the Yarra River and is one of the oldest metal bridges in Australia. It was constructed in the early wave of major new infrastructure funded by the Victorian gold rush. Designed by Francis Bell, it is a substantial riveted, wrought iron, lattice truss structure, with bluestone abutments and piers.
The APS scaffolding division was engaged to provide full scaffolding access to conduct refurbishments and repairs on this iconic bridge. Using the in-house design and engineering team and the Layher scaffolding system, the APS scaffold teams completed the installation to enable this critical maintenance to occur.
