In 2016, Built. was contracted to manage and carry out restoration works to the façade of the iconic Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, the largest and busiest railway station in Victoria. APS had not previously worked with this client; however, we were approached directly due to our high performing teams and experience in delivering complex projects.
APS was awarded the scope, which included the design and erection of the scaffold that provided access to the entire façade and clock tower throughout the restoration project. This was no small feat and required a crew of 20+ scaffolders working 24-hour shifts.
APS safely installed the southern scaffold over three weekends, then subsequently delivered an innovative scaffolding design using a steel framework. The design bypassed Platform One at the station, which eliminated any potential interference with daily commuters and ensured no impact to the existing timber façade.
APS proudly continued to assist with ongoing scaffolding and trades until the iconic building was completely restored to its former glory in 2018.
